Painting your rocket with Testors enamel paint
We offer 2 sizes of enamel paints from Testors. 3 Oz spray cans and 1/4 Oz bottle. We recommend using the spray when you need to cover large area of your rocket with a certain colour. If there are just few elements that need to be painted, you can save by using small bottle and applying the paint with a brush. You only need one layer of paint if you use the brush and there is enough paint in one small bottle to cover the entire medium-sized rocket.
Brush and Brush Cleaner
We recommend using small 1/4 oz bottles of enamels if you need to paint small areas of your rocket, like bands, stripes or even small section of the rocket body. This paint is applied using the brush. Selecting the right brush is extremely important. Choose the brush that does not absorb the paint. Synthetic or nylon bristles are the best. We offer the set of testors brushes to paint larger surfaces, like fins or nose cones.
Your brush can be used multiple times, but you need to clean it after each use. We offer testors brush cleaner, which is made to dissolve testors enamels and lacquers.
Thinner
We recommend using thinner with all 1/4oz paints we sell on the site, unless thick coat of paint is desired.
Primer
Primer helps with paint adhesion and one coat of primer can reduce the color coats by a couple, especially on sharp edged pieces or with gloss paint. Also, if you want to drastically change the color of a kit, say turn a brown body tube white, primer is a huge help in getting a good, even colored coat down. If you want to make sure you have cleaned up a seam, or any modifications look ok, primer helps you spot errors.
White or Gray Primer
Use white primer as a base coat for white or very light colors, otherwise use gray primer.
A Word of Caution
Do not use indoors, unless you have sufficient ventilation. Avoid breathing of vapors. Visit Testors web site for safety information.
